who could face 90 days in jail plus a $1000. fine?! Because a neighbor is complaining about the "mooing" of her pet cow, Wally. I think this is just totally ridiculous!

i think there's more important things that we should focus on...like the high homicide rate in Rochester, NY, the war in the middle east, the job bank, kids getting their education, obesity, ect...

People have a right to peace. It doesn't matter what the disturbance is. It's easy to say it is ridiculous I would imagine if you are not the one that has to listen to it. People have become so self absorbed these days they think they can do what they want and that if something doesn't bother them it shouldn't bother anyone else. It's no different that listening to a neighbors barking dog, fireworks for 3 weeks surrounding the 4th or loud music etc.
If she is indeed facing 90 days jail and a $1000 fine as you state, it has to have been going on a long time without her taking responsibility or seriously addressing the issue.

At first I thought it was nuts, but after my experience on the 4th and all night long of noise and lack of sleep I could see why the neighbors were a bit upset. 7 months of interrupted nights would make me grouchy too. I'd volunteer to help her build a new pen away from house instead of calling the cops though.

The issue is less the particulars of the mooing cow, it's the disturbance it is causing. There are laws.

Sounds pretty silly to me. Unless keeping the cow is in violation of zoning or other laws, no penalty can be justified.
