the laptops i am looking at to buy cost between 400 pounds to 500 im not spending any more than that. all i want it for is to play games, all i need to know is will the AMD play games ok will i notice much of a difference will i regret not getting an intel core duo,

The Core Duo would be a little faster, but the main determining factor for games will be the video card. A laptop in that price range will most likely not have a very powerful video card, so don't expect great performance when gaming.

AMD Turion X2 TL52 vs Intel Core Duo

I would have to tell you that the Core Duo (T2500 I'm guessing) would out perform the other one. But if you want the upper-notch, get a Core 2 Duo, those things are getting cheaper and are much better.

Please also remember that the chip you would maybe get otherwise is the one that did not do so well on the benchmarks in my source.
