I have a 94 Ranger 4x4, manual locking hubs & rear ABS. After moving forward 50 yards there's a slight thud sound, then the front right brake feels as if it is on.Sometimes I have to put it in reverse to unlock it before it will move. My mechanic has replaced calipers, hoses, pads & rotors twice so I don't think it's the brakes. It also seems to act up more after it has rained. The wheel has locked so tight that tire has skidded without even applying the brakes. I am wondering if a bad wheel cylinder will cause this.

You have a problem in the front axle or the wheel bearings. you are going to have to disassemble it to find the problem.

I know I've heard of this before..... You might want to check the wheel bearing, I think there is an outer axle bearing too, and if it calapses, it will stop the wheel on that side. The axle on that side is causing the problem more then likely, just unsure from which end. So take off the wheel, check that outer axle bearing, and see if turning it around by hand does the same thing, if so, it's the axle.

jack the truck up then try to turn each wheel by hand if they won't turn then you have a problem with the callipers.if they turn step on the brakes then try to turn them.if every thing is fine then the problem could be in the locking hub.

it sounds like an axle problem. get that tire off and inspect the axle. replace all the bearings in the wheel hub too.

It could be master cylinder, wheel cylinder, wheel bearings, transfer case. Don't drive it until you get it fixed. It is unsafe and may cause an accident.
