I own a transmission shop, and think this; If it is a bad crimp, then cut it out, purchase a hose for this (5/16") about 6-8 inches long, slide it over the place you cut out of the line, and clamp it securely. They make special hose just for this, and can be purchased at most parts stores. Anytime there is doubt about something, don't take a chance on burning the transmission up. The crimp could in fact mess with the line pressure, and cause problems, so fix it. Use the good clamps on it, go back and snug them down a couple of times to make sure they are secure, and won't blow off. If you have enough line, you could use a union fitting that has compression rings that won't come loose. Leaking because of the crimp is not the only problem you may have, as it could in fact limit the flow of fluid, and destroy the transmission.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

I'd go ahead and replace it.

A crimp, (I'm assuming you mean a kink,) in the metal tubing will reduce flow through the line and work hardens the metal. Work hardening the metal on anything that endures any type of vibration means it's going to break, split, crack or start leaking sooner or later.

I'd really rather replace it at the outset than have to worry about it on the road. Murphy's law dictates that when it breaks, it will usually happen in the place far enough from a parts supply to make it an enormous pain in the @ss; and less profanity, blasphemy, injury and expense will result if you do it right the first time.

You should replace it. What you have done is cut the flow from the radiator to the transmission, which could cause problems (often costly) in the future. Save yourself some money in the long run, change the line, before you end up changing the transmission.

yes you should, the kink will slow the flow and increase the temp of your fluid causing damage. the quick fix is a small piece of gas line and two hose clamps, but after a time this will work loose. At the auto parts stores they sell compression fittings that can repair that at a less price then replacing the line from the dealer.

If it's a big kink replace the line or cut it off at the kink and get some high pressure hose and a couple of clamps to patch it up.
