There is a long history of presidents refusing to follow subpoenas going back to John Adams. Jefferson also made the same claim in relation to the case of U.S. v. Burr (1807). He wrote the court stating:

"To comply with such calls would leave the nation without an executive branch, whose agency nevertheless is understood to be so constantly necessary that it is the sole branch which the constitution requires to be always in function."

Since then this has been called "executive privilege." Although it is not found in the Constitution, it is not an invention of G.W.B., but a long standing doctrine followed since Jefferson's time.

There is a lot of ridiculous stuff that G.W.B. is responsible for, but this isn't one.

I guess you can see that there are advantages to a constitutional monarchy, with a separate head of state. I don't think that even the Prime Minister could refuse to answer a subpoena, since law is administered in the Queen's name.

Where does this hatred of Bush come from? He has kept you safe for 6 years after September 11th. You should thank heaven for such a strong leader and quit carping.

Then we can all pray that he has a similar experience to what happened to Elvis Presley - that he dies on the "throne".

And, FYI to the Secret Service - this is NOT a threat - I have better things to do than spend the rest of my life in prison.
