holy crap..we have two fronts going on now, and have not brought stability to either one. Afghanistan is falling apart and we can't get Iraq under control, how the heck are we going to take on Iran. And Iran knows this. Our credibility and 'soft power" in the world has been greatly diminished. We are no longer the perceived threat by the rest of the world that we once were before Bush, and that is dangerous.
we could also start by telling Halliburten to .quit building Iran's infrastructure.
Federal law disallows American companies from transacting business with nations that sponsor terrorism, but foreign subsidiaries of such companies are not banned from such transactions. In May 2004, the U.S. Senate voted against legislation that would have stopped companies like Halliburton from using offshore subsidiaries to invest in Iran. The legislation was defeated in a 50-49 vote, mostly along party lines.
As CEO of Halliburton, Mr. Cheney lobbied the Clinton administration to ease sanctions on Libya and Iran, according to various news reports. "I think we'd be better off if we, in fact, backed off those sanctions [on Iran], didn't try to impose secondary boycotts on companies .. trying to do business there," Cheney told an Australian television interviewer in April 1998.3
According to the Financial Times, before he was elected (but after he resigned from Halliburton) Cheney "has said the company is allowed to operate legally in Iran through its foreign subsidiaries."4 "What we do with respect to Iran and Libya is done through foreign subsidiaries, totally in compliance with US law," Cheney told ABC Television's Sam Donaldson. When Donaldson suggested, "it's a way around US law," Cheney replied: "No, no, it's provided for us specifically with respect to Iran and Libya."5 If you're a big multinational that's able to incorporate around the world, you don't have to worry.
We would know their fighter aircraft well though. Iran flys F-14 Tomcats.

Well the U.S.A. would win, but the question is "at what cost?"
Oil prices would rise, but not as far is Iran claims- since they are only one of many oil producing nations. The bigger question is whether Iran could really block of the gulf and keep other gulf nations from exporting their oil. I don't think they can.
Yet, this war in not an inevitability. It appears that Iran is ready to crack from the inside. Gas rationing hasn't gone over well, and Iran lacks the ability to build refineries until about 2010-2012. Do you think the people will wait that long? I think that Iran will either crack from the inside or go nuts (drop a nuke on Israel) long before the U.S. finds it necessary to invade Iran.

"Iran is full of stupid people barely out of the stone age.
Who do you think would win "
As long as uninformed ignorant people who think like this exist we can be hopeful to win ofcourse it won't be an easy war.
Maybe you need to come out of your cave and have a look around the world to see that things are not the way you presume so next time you wont be so easily fooled by a poor propaganda about WMD.

in case you think approximately the united kingdom as an entire portion of the ecu and the Germans and French at the instant are on top of problems with the ecu military. nicely then you definitely land up with the comparable paradox that confronted us for the duration of the chilly warfare. How does an armed rigidity with 20 diverse Languages combat one with 2 (English and Spanish)? It additionally relies upon on the battlefield (in Europe or in the U. S.?) once you think approximately logistics. you may could anticipate an all out naval conflict and supply the desperate facet to the U. S. forces as long as that's maintained in direction of the sea removed from Land based help. it would quickly be a warfare of attrition with the yank Liberals and the French All attempting to sue for peace or renounce.

It would be an ugly, messy war that would drastically effect the world's economy. Terrorism would rise sharply everywhere. If it were fought on the ground it would make Iraq look like a walk in the park.

We can't even win in Iraq.
Now Bush wants to take on Iran. I know he is nuts, but I didn't think he would be idiot enough to start another war in the middle of one of the most un-popular wars, and presidents, in US history. He must have a death wish, or he wants to declare martial law so no elections can be held!
Our troops are on their third tour in Iraq. The services have had so many deserters they don't even look for them! And we want to start another war? For what? They aren't even close to developing a nuclear weapon (10 years has been the experts guess) and Bush need do nothing. Lets wait for another president who the people support. They sure don't support Bush and his corporate welfare policy!
As far as Rice, she has never done anything? She is worthless, and she needs to retired, or someone needs to retire her! Name me ONE thing she has accomplished? And being a yes person for Bush is not an accomplishment!

No question about it. The US would win hands down. The effect on oil prices is equally predictable, they will rise. Any unstability in the ME will result in a rise in oil prices.

We don't get oil from Iran.
If it becomes necessary to fight them (they are supplying arms ,money and training to our enemies ) our air and sea power will do most of the fighting.
Myself,I'd load C5-A's will live pigs and drop them from 50,000 ft and cover Tehran with hog's blood and bits of pork.
Hammer them until they beg us to stop.
No ground invasion ,just round the clock bombing, napalm their oil fields, destroy their military forces until they surrender.
And no help rebuilding their country.

Right now our soldiers are too exhausted to fight effectively and we could not beat Iran.
We haven't been able to suppress the Iraqi insurrection and our President has the military leadership ability of Elmer Fudd.
Iran knows this, which is why they are being so brazen.
