I must admit I wouldn't be happy having him. He has no passion and cannot motivate anyone, I can see him been a flop :)

What evidence is there to say he's a bad manager? Great success at club level; won championships with Benfica and did the double at Lazio (also bringing their first league title in 27 years) as well as winning in Europe. Got England to every tournament and to the quarterfinals - look at our record previously - group stage at Euro 2000, last 16 at World Cup 98, didn't qualify for USA 94, group stage at Euro 92. The Euro 96 team was arguably our best team since 66 but mismanagement after the tournament meant all was lost. He brought a bit of stability, and isn't that want City need? At the end of the day, the England players were responsible for losing two penalty shoot outs.

No, they're not mad. Sven's a great manager, it just didn't work out for him with England. Manchester City could get relegated, but it won't be because of him. It'll be be because they're crap. I doubt they'll get relegated anyway because having him as Manager and having the former Thai Prime Minister as their owner will do nothing but good for the team.

Very mad indeed. They will not get reelgated as they will have plenty of transfer funds, and I believe that Derby, Middlesbrough, Fulham and Wigan are all more likely to be relegated. However, Eriksson's record as a manger is not as good as some might think; how he is held in such high regard by club chairmen I do not know; remember Chelsea wanted him to replace Ranieri before appointing Mourinho?
In Sweden he won 5 competitions with the then-best team in Sweden IFK Goteburg, including a UEFA cup. In two stints at Benfica, he has won 5 competitions, as well as a few Coppa Italia trophies with Roma, Sampdoria and Lazio; however, he bought success at Lazio, simply by throwing money at the team, spending over £200m to win the league on players such as Veron, Crespo, Peruzzi, Simeone, Salas, Mihaijlovic etc., as well as bizarrely signing ageing Atillo Lombardo and Fabrizio Ravanelli. He then went a bit mad and spent £16m on Claudio Lopez, who ended up being loaned to South American clubs and released on a free a few years later, after a career blighted by injury. He also spent a belief-beggaring fee of £31m on Gaizka Mendieta, who later joined Middlesborough on a free.
Given money to spens he will likely attract some good players to City but his passion is noticeably lacking, his motivation of players is questionable at best and anyone who watched England under his tenure can see that, tactically, he hasn't got a clue.

Will you just stop that. City made a great deal and it will work for them. Whenever I hear people refer to his period with England it makes me mad. Was he to take those penalties himself or what. At least we have a better manager now don't we. Give him a chance and with some good foreign buys City will come good. In the national team your scope is limited to what's available and for England I'm afraid most in the present squad are merely names.

On odds bookies are giving 3-1 to be relegated. I feel City will be pleasantly surprised and feel they will get a top half placing next season.

You cannot compare how he was as England manager to a club manager. The two jobs are totally different. With a country manager you have to pick according to nationality, as a club manager you can (usually) pick any player from anywhere.

I think they are absolutely mad. They let Pearce go who is a man passionate about the game and who will give 110% and replace him with a man who has not really proved himself and who is simply after money. He shows no passion and tactically has no idea. He is far too defensive. I do not think City will go down but they may struggle again.
