If the screen or backlight has gone then the panel needs to be replaced. That is probably 80% to 90% of the monitor cost.
So by the time you have paid for a panel and someone to pull the old one out and put a new one in you will have paid more than the replacement cost.
Also a 2007 panel is probably going to be better and cheaper than a 2004 panel.

If you know how to fix it yourself, that would be the way to go. Any shop will screw the daylights out of you for repairs on a display.

theres some sorta chip in the screen that makes the light turn on it could be that if ur talkin about nuttin showin up on the screen if so ur better off gettin it fixed because i have a laptop that like 3 years old it has the same prob and ive heard that im better at gettin that chip fixed than haveing to get a whole new screen to go in my laptop. and another thing plug ur screen in to the wall and computer like u would normally then turn it on and point it toward a light and look at it from diff angles and see if u see anything appearing on it that wat i have to do with my laptop or if its not the chip it could be the light either way pointing it at a light will work if it has to deal with the light in the screen
