THE FAMILY
With Dad at the head and Mom not working but home nurturing the kids. Once the family is intact, everything else will fall into place.
Everyone home for the family dinner. Siblings caring for one another. Keeping the Sabbath Holy.
One Nation under God.

Gas that cost 19 cents a gallon. And probably a mint condition 1967 Pontiac Firebird with a nice Detroit muscle engine. I'd also keep the 1959 Fender Stratocaster I sold for $600 - now it would be worth in the tens of thousands of dollars given the condition that it was in. I'd also like to be in the physical condition I was in when I could run long distance, and there are some ladies I'd like to "visit" again... ;)

Trust. When I was young we didn't even lock the house when we left. I'm still in that house now and I don't let my grandchildren play outside without an adult being there. I live in a very rural area....yet its like this. I also miss all the little Mom and Pop stores that was within walking distance of every part of the neighborhoods in the area......all the kids walked to the stores for penny candy. Now...same neighborhood......have to drive to Sheetz.

Even though I'm not a senior, I love to visit here to see if I can maybe help the senior citizens here and I would like to see it when a person's word is there bound come back again because in this age of technology it is too easy for someone to lie about themselves and then be like "oh well".

Family values.
As I read in a posted question today.
the kids wear clothes that only hoochie mamas [ Ho's] should wear.
children tell their parents what to do and where to go.
There are no rules for young people.
And courtesy to your elders is a thing of the past.
Most children are begging for some form of discipline but their parents are clueless.
OMG- I sound like my mother.

I would like to see the return of better manners and more respect, and perhaps the decency to be ashamed of certain things. I would like the return of a proper concern for our responsibilities as opposed to just our "rights," especially when it seems that our concern for our rights are often in a total disregard for those of others. I would like to see the return of an age when everything did not seem to evolve around money. I would like to see the return of a better sense of community, as opposed to everyone running off to join, and be a part of, his own separate little group.

well, I can tell you what I don't want to see...much easier:
Cheaper prices...that would mean serious reduction of salary
Autos: Oil changes every 2k mile, tires that lasted 10K miles
TV's: Old, bulky, ugly things that had more snow than picture
hay rides: I always ended up itchy as hell after one of these
High school: We were all lost in a sea of adolescence.
Virginity concept: screwed up more people than it helped
Bring back (won't happen) Drive in movies, sock hops.
Bring back (wont' happen) My mom.
Bring back (could happen) Parenting skills and interaction
Bring Back (could happen) educated HS graduates.

Grace...
The grace of a doffed hat
The grace of a gloved hand shake
The grace of the flowing gowns [some before my time, but they were so beautiful]
The grace of manors
The grace of caring for one another [even the strangers] in your town.
The grace of referring to where you lived as a town... even the Big Cities.
The grace of meals taken with care... and the giving of grace to begin.
I could go on, but I won't because there are many things I like about now, too.
Jackie, I loved your response.
