Could my 93 Z28 still be throwing codes if the Check Engine Light isn't on?

in 1993 the obd1 system was not very advanced there may be codes there. Only the harmful codes that could ruin the emissions controls will light the light. You do notice the light turning on during the bulb test when first starting?

The codes I mentioned earlier may or may not cause light to come on, but will shed light on problem.
