You local drug store will have a few choices of liquids that are specifically made for nail biters. You simply apply these to your nails and the taste is so bad that you don't want to put your fingers in your mouth. Your habits are probably "nervous habits". You may want to cut out caffeine and sugar for awhile. Also, keep in mind that chewed up nails are very unattractive (if that matters to you). Habits are hard to break. I used to be a nail biter. I went cold turkey. Good luck to you, pal.

At drug stores sometimes they have nail polish that tastes really bad, and it doesn't show up on your nails. As for the knuckles, you could ask a friends who's a doctor to bandage it up thickly enough so you are unable to crack them any longer, lol.

It doesn't bother you that there is all of that gross stuff under your nails no matter how much you wash them? And cracking your knuckles isn't going to hurt you.

You have to make the conscious effort to stop. There is no magic, miracle method of stopping a habit. You have to be aware of what you're doing, and by the way WHY you're doing it...and when you go to do it...stop.
Good luck!

you could put band-aids around your finger tips so that you can't bite your nails. maybe when you see the band-aids it will also remind you not to crack your knuckles.
at least with band-aids (vs. boxing gloves) you will still be able to do things.
