1. Check if the power is properly connected to your hard disk, and if the hard disk is properly connected to your motherboard.
2. Turn your computer on and see if it can detect the hard disk.
3. Google the terms "hard disk data recovery".

if you are not using the hardisk on any other computer other than where it was earlier, you should check with the motherboard compatability. if it's the same system you are using it in here's how you try it and if it is a internal harddisk:
try removing the harddisk from the PC and then again you should connect it tight and good and then even then if it doest work, try updating the bios or use command prompt and try accessing the data. if not you should get someone else's harddisk put that master and yours slave and try accessing it that way. and get your data out. or you have no choice you got to format it and even if it's failed you can use it as a good small stand.
hope you do well. bye now. basically make sure the connections are tight and neat. then ty updating your bios version from a CD or a floppy or another person's harddisk.
happy hunting

Put the hard drive in another computer as a drive D or Drive E. Many times it can not be detected as a boot drive but can be detected by the BIOS of the motherboard.
If when installed in another computer, the BIOS can not even detect it, the drive is probably failed.
We have used ONTRACK (10 years ago) to restore data from a quantum drive that we needed. It cost us $2500.00 to get a backup tape of that drive, but is was better than loosing all of our business data.
I'm sure that you can look up ONTRACT or som other data recovery service online when the hard drive has just plane failed. (In our case, the drive would not spin up)

If you have checked the connections and still that did no help I suggest you take it to the guys who can recover the data from the disk. Will cost a lot but will save you a lot if all you had was important that porn.
Check out:::
http://www.google.com or Yahoo! and search for local companies in your area.
Good luck

You generally can't. This usually means the circuit board on the hard drive has failed. I have heard desperation takes of people getting the circuit board off a good drive and soldering it on the old drive, but I have never tried it.
Depends on how much the data is worth, maybe send it to a professional lab.
