Because they can. Not all rez'es have casinos. Not all rez'es have oil and the ones who do get about 2 cents on the dollar compared to a pump on a white man's land. Do you know that Native Americans had to be proven in court that they were human beings? It finally was proven when a woman cried because they were going to hang her husband. Only humans actually cry tears of sadness. This was about 1921. Not all rez'es have indoor plumbing or electricity. The rez lands have never been actually signed over to the tribes, but are held by the government and shrink every time a family leaves to live elsewhere.

I remember when I was small and saw that my parents both had terrible pock marked skin. I was afraid mine would get like that. It was only when I was grown that I was told that the government sent small-pox infected blankets to the rez as a gift. My parents were 2 of the approx. 20% of the survivers. The government wanted to know what the small-pox survival rate would be if there were no medical services available.

The biggest killers on the res is whiskey (USDA supplies) and suicide when people realize that this is all there is.

What age you living in Joe. Do you think for one minute they would let that happen to them today? NO WAY. Seems everytime they open their mouths their getting something back. But hey! they want more. Just look at how huge they build their casinos. But isn't it funny how non-Native Americans cannot fish or live on their property but they can fish and live on ours? So where are they being persecuted.

I met several native Americans while I was in the service
and they all seemed happy. One of my very best buddies
was a Native American from Ponca City, Oklahoma...
My mother is a decendant of the Cherokee tribe....we're very
proud of our heritage....however there are those which
can always find things to gripe about and there are others who really have a reason to gripe....I'm sure this is true
even with the native Americans.

Things are hardly perfect but the Native Americans are doing a LOT better than they have been - the casino where I live changed the local tribe from having the highest unemployment in the county to being the biggest EMPLOYER in the county. If that's not an improvement I don't know what is. And as far as I'm concerned, I'd delighted for them!

Because the Native Americans have the answers to living with nature but to do so would ruin a lot of government profiteering as it is today.

Coz they dont have a unified voice and most of the tribes have been side tracked by the casino money that rarely trickles down to the average Native. Another reason is that a lot of the young Natives have started to assimilate in the main stream culture rather than diffrentiate them selves from it. Not saying its right or wrong, just making a point.

It's not the USA in general, it's the Government that persecutes others.

it is kinda pointless. i think of a lot of human beings have study oftentimes historic previous to nicely known that maximum folk of the Conquistadors seem to have been borderline sociopaths via cutting-edge standards! utilising cultural alterations as an excuse for conquest isn't constrained to Christianity or Islam. look on the way the chinese language taken care of the hill tribes and different minorities or the jap the Ainu or Arab investors justifying the slave tribe on the grounds the Africans in contact have been pagans! i will additionally pass on for pages and posts approximately pagans battling with pagans Greeks as against Persians and vice versa?

Every Indian I run into has more money & opportunities than I have or ever will have. I'm self employed and pay a lot of taxes for my hard work. To the best of my knowledge, casinos are still tax exempt. STOP WHINING!!!!!!!!!!!
