You don't, you "unzip" them
If you have Win Xp or later, simply right click it and select extract.

Or if you want more control, get Winzip from www.winzip.com

I will assume you have either a GAME/VIDEO/AUDIO file you wish to access. First a zipped filed is a way to save something by crunching it into a smaller space. Drop a ten ton block on a HUM V and it now fits into the space of a VW. everythings still there, it weighs the same, but its smaller, more compact. The HUM V now stores well in less space, but you cant use it in this form you must uncranch it.
Computer files are much the same. Some files such as VIDEO/AUDIO/GAMES etc... take up alot of disc space. to save space a ZIP program condenses the material into a smaller space. The problem as with the HUM V is the material is unusable in this form.
To restore the file or uncrunch it so to speak you need a program. Windows 2000/xp/vista all come with a working progam installed which can be accessed to unzip the file. These also have tutorials to explain there use under the help files. If you do not have these preinstalled programs you can download many types of unzip programs from the internet. WINZIP is a great one and is very popular. PKZIP for older and MSDOS computers.
you may obtain a free usable copy of winzip from their website at winzip.com, or just search the web for zip programs.

what?? you can't play them they have to be opened then the contents installed or used as they were unpackaged. If you meant how do I open a zip file you will need a program like win zip. Just go here and download the free trial. you can use it to open Zip files forever but you cannot make a zip file till you purchase it.

1) Download the program "winzip" from www.winzip.com.

2) Go back to your file.

3) Right-click on the file.

4) Select "Extract File". The rest should be self-explanatory (click Next and Finish).

5) You will find that your file is extracted. Click on the extracted file.

6) Voila! ^^

You do not play them, you extract the files from a zip file.

If you right click a zip file and then select Extract it will then extract the files.

I recommend downloading WinRAR, from http://www.rarlab.com/

Very reliable. Plus, after 30 days, it asks you to register (in a small window that hardly ever pops up), but never expires.. its great, and free.
