Well it all depends what you believe in if you believe in buddism
then your purpose in life is to do good things to others and once you die you join the spirit world and are reincarnated into another life and how you lived your previous life is the quality of your new one. if your christian your purpose is to know God and make it your sworn duty to tell others about God and jesus and to teach yourself to obey the teachings no one will be perfect at this but the more you practice the better you get. if your athiest you have no purpose and you just eat drink, piss and poop and die and rot and thats it.

I don't know if I agree that we (the human race) were "put here" but if we were I'm sure whatever or whoever "put us here" (our source) had a reason for doing so.
I think our purpose is first to reproduce ourselves and to seek that source and as much knowledge as we can assimilate about it and our universe and place in it before we end as end we must. If there should happen to be "life after life" that knowledge and our other memories are the only things we have any chance of taking with us. The purpose of life is LIFE!

We arent here to do anything really, the only reason we do do anything is because our brains evolve faster than say, a fish. What are fish's purpose? A Dandelion?Any living thing really? Aside from having a place on the food chain we are all just outcomes of the mix of millions of years of water, heat, and bacteria. People are just vain and convince themselves "No, I'm not worthless, I have purpose" Then religion gets dragged into it and it's a huge mess. We live. We reproduce. We Die. We fertilize flowers. Just like very other living thing on this planet and any others like it. the end.

psalm 1: 2-3 says 'but his delight is in the law of the lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper'.
the first thing i want to point out is 'whatsoever he doeth shall prosper because it says WHATEVER HE DOES....meaning that there is nothing to do and it doesnt really matter what he does, but instead, NO MATTER what he does he will be good at it.
i also want to point out how it says to be cool and just chill like a tree.... that is all we have to do.... so yes, it is to eat, sleep, and poop. take advice from the plants and animals, and do as they do... because all that is important, is living.

i often think this, my sole purpose is bringing my children up the best i can with what life puts in front of me , i have had many times when i wanted to give up and run away but as a parent you can't do this , life gets boring sometimes , routine this routine that but the small things make up for it ,just be happy and content with what you have its nice to know we can make a difference in this world and be remembered in a nice way when we do die

The alternative is nothing. Absolutely nothing. Which do you prefer? An awesome universe which includes you with the mind to contemplate it, or nothing at all?
