The down under referrence comes because Australia is below the equator form the US. From now own, I will refer to you as AUSSIES. I am not a Dubya fan, That would be a great insult, so I understand how you feel.

I'm an Aussie and don't get offended by that term. Yes, we are from a land down under...SO??!!
When I hear the song by Men at Work 'A land down under' it actually makes me feel very proud to be an Aussie..

What? I am Australian - I have heard our country being referred to as the land downunder (like the song) but they dont call us 'downunder' - and by referring to them as dumb yanks - I am sure that you would most likely be called other names......

I have a first cousin who lives in Australia; he said he and his wife prefer to be called Kangaroos. So, as an American, I hereby dub all Australians to hereforth be known as Kangaroos!

You see it on postcards everywhere.
