I am sure your mother would be proud. The second Christmas after my son was born I was so broke I could not afford much. I got some 88cent stencil paint from Wal-Mart and spread it out on a paper plate, put my sons hand in it and made hand prints for Granny and Pee Paw with a Wal-Mart frame for their gift. He is now 17 years old and it still hangs on the wall in the den at my mom's.

Until the day that you die
It truly is the thought that counts
Spending a few bucks, or quid on a card when you are older and working is a truly meaningless platitude
Putting the time and effort in, to make a personalised card, when you can afford to buy one is truly the better option.

Depends on whether you get better every year. The trick is to either stay the same as a 5 year old and look "special" or get really good at drawing.

Go for it, its chap, cheerful, timetaking and shows love.
Also at the age of 30 I think it should be a little better than the stuff you did when you were 5. As long as its nice, and tasteful, she'll love it.

If you're not talented then when you hit your teens, but if you can draw really well it makes an acceptable gift at any age (as a one-off though, not every year!). It's certainly not 'cute' when you're an adult, but it can be meaningful.
