The fashion is gay, the music sucks and the culture is fake. No one respects someone who dresses like a fruit cake, says bitches, hoes and ***** in every sentence of a song and whole culture is based on acting like an uneducated no class reject who smacks women around

Its not that they get less respect (or more for that matter) in reality they get virtually nothing. As some said, its a stereotype that triggers the feeling of not being respected, but its true that specific lifestyles such as "urban" get respect from urban civilians more and so on with other styles, though doesn't necessarily mean that a suburban or a farmer don't respect other people in general regardless of their status. Its each person's view of how they classify or belief on respect. Its no different than the stereotyped sayings "cowboy" or "farm boy/girl" thats equivalent to "city folk" or "suit"

I'm not into the "urban" lifestyle, but the best answer I can come up with is that people have a habit of stereotyping.

The short answer is they don't.

The long answer is they attract respect from different people.

If you live the urban lifestyle, others living the same lifestyle will respect you.

This applies for most any lifestyle.
