How important is the root meaning of words?

And should we tell young people those words are not acceptable.
As some young people some times use words wrongly and ignor the root mean behind it

For me it's very important....And yes,when someone makes a mistake,specially young people,you or every you should correct us kindly! I'm 18 years old and i always had,and sometimes still have someone to correct me when I'm wrong. And i live in Greece...which means we have thousand roots for just one word!!!

it is important,however nowadays people pay less attentions to these things...i myself love knowing about words' roots,it's interesting..sometimes people ,after a while, use a word in a different way...that's a normal thing in all societies...
