It would really be great if such a thing becomes possible. Traumatised people will finally be able to live life on a positive note. But what are the side-effects???

Every time I read something like this I am reminded of the song from the 70's, by the Door's, it was called, White Rabbit, and the line I remember is "some pill's make you larger, some pill's make you small, but the pill's that mother gives you don't do anything at all".
My question about this eraser pill, would be how does it discern the bad memories from the good?
My thinking is stay with what we know works, to whit a therapist.

I don't know about any pill that erases bad memories, but I am taking something prescribed by my psychiatrist that helps me a lot. The drug is called Cyproheptadine and has been shown to remove an emotional attachment to a memory and not necessarily erase the memory itself. Of course, that is just my own personal experience and someone else's experience(s) will vary. I think it's most important, though, that psychological therapy be done in conjunction with medication from a good psychiatrist.

I heard about this as well. but I think that the technical stuff is a little over my head. It could be a wonderful thing or a real nightmare if used by the wrong people. A SciFi book in the making.

Its like discovering how never to Grow, isn't it? Pretending the World is other than it is, only asks for real trouble.

this may be the same report that propanolol ( sp? AKA Inderol) might do this, if administered by a psychiatrist in contorlled conditions.
Getting controlled conditions is a KEY point - you can't do it to yourself and expect to get good results.

Yeah. Just read about that a couple of days ago. I'd like to have a cocktail of this medicine. There's so much I need to forget.

Great idea, I'd considered looking into it, but then I realized it would probably be best if I at least remember SOME of my life, at the very least who I am.
