But i noticed also that certain leftist groups actualy love guns,at least the more liberation groups of the left.Vermont is one state where one can be a liberal and libertarion at the same person.

most people who are for gun control live in safe neighborhoods with quick police response times, or politicians who have bodyguards the rest think rather eutopian . Its a nice fairy tale to think that if guns were outlawed outlaws would stop using them but murderers and rapist commit these crimes knowing they are crimes I fully doubt any murderer will stop and say "damn cant use a gun to kill, those are illegal". Its simply something that if you have been fortunate enough to never have to use a weapon to defend yourself then why would you think others would. but the police cant be everywhere at once. There are conservatives that favor gun control as well. However, the liberal politicians who tend to favor gun control receive huge contributions from groups who wish guns were outlawed. All politicians are for sale, follow the money.

The whole issue of gun control is a misnomer. Liberals are against assault weapons, aka types,and other such hardware used to commit major crime. Not, against gun control, in and of itself.

It's impossible to generalize any one group--one could as easily ask why conservatives claim to support the troops and yet favor stop-loss laws. That's unfair to conservatives, since they are individuals who can only be loosely defined by labels.
That said? Liberals *tend* to support the masses (as with labor unions, support of the minimum wage, etc.) and the helpless (the uneducated, children, etc.) Unchecked gun usage generally results in harm to the masses, as a personal gun is as likely to kill one's child as to kill an intruder.
Me? I'd be happy if the gun manufacterers just started implementing child safety features. But many conservatives believe that would be unfair to the business owners, and many conservatives *tend* to support the business owners over the masses.

gun control for me would be a written & skill test before a gun lisense is issued..just like an automobile they can be dangerous without proper skill and a knowledge of the "rules of the road"

Taking away guns was the first step for hitler and stalin to take over their countries! Gun control, wealth distribution (excessive taxes on people who make more than average and giving it to people who make less than average= welfare) and this "fairness doctrine" aimed at completely controlling the media could possibly be the first steps in ............................

Liberals believe government is your buddy. They think all problems great and small should be decided upon by your government. We, as citizens, they think, need to be governed, because we are incapable of making rational choices for ourselves, or be responsible for big things, such as firearms ownership. They think, since the American citizen is incapable of rational thought, responsibility or decisions, firearms should only be given to police or the military. In essence, we would live in a police state, entirely dictated to by our government. If the government decided something for us, whether we wanted it or not, we would have no choice but to accept it, because we would be powerless to do anything about it. We would, for the most part, be like Venezuela. The government rules, and the people cower in fear of their rulers.
If this is the kind of government America wants, then vote for gun control. As for me, they're going to have to pry my weapons out of my cold, dead hands.
