It is not necessarity true that all married men at 40 need sex outside marriage. But commonly, 40 years is considered as the check post of younghood and old age. When someone remember that he is crossing 40, a subconscious awareness will develop in him that his sexual life is going to an end sooner. Then in an attempt to get as much as sexual pleasure he can, he used to go out of marriage relationships.

Another thing is that the inspiration getting form proverbs like " after forty always naughty". Some of the men used to say, Oh I become 40. Now there must be some spices in the life.

How do you generalize ?? We have all sort of men and women in this world. Urge is an emotional condition of ones mind and controlling it needs self discipline. Nothing else is going to help. You say this as a statement, but it's false, it's only your way to rid yourself of guilt. Because if you "need" it and "can't control" it then it's somehow not so shameful?
You are a human being with a free will, so tell your penis that you're the one with the gray matter. At some point in your life you've already had to deal with your adolescent hormones, so you should be stronger than that.

I didn't know about this fact about men aged 40. For all you know, a married man in his 30s could have an uncontrollable urge for extra-marital sex. Even married women in their 40s or of any other age could look for some fun outside their marriage.
Essentially, it is all about human physiology and nature. Some people go for extra-marital sex because they are not satisfied with their sex lives with their spouses. Here things could change if they settled for abstinence or if their spouses spiced up their mutual sex lives. But for those who go for it without reason, just for the fun of it, I'm afraid that there is no remedy in sight.

They don't, but there is a little horror called the "Mid-Life Crisis". They get to the half way point in their life, and wonder "Is this all there is for me?" Then some revert to the mind of a teenager, where the world is about them and what they want, without consideration to their responsibilities, and promises made.
Can it be controlled? Yes. It does take self-discipline, and knowing that he has a personal responsibility to make choices that don't hurt the others in his life, but some are just too weak.
