So if they have power points what kind of charger unit would I need to get to charge a tom tom instead of a cigarette charger.

My car has two power points for extraneous equipment but no cigarette lighter supplied. You have to order a special smokers kit if you smoke. You get a lighter insert and an ashtray in the kit. Very few new vehicles are now supplied with lighters and trays.but have power points.

I would assume you work for British Gas.
Ask them! They are the people who specify what equipment may, or may not be fitted.

they do have lighters
