It is possible, but it would be the hard way to do things. A GED is considered an alternative to the high school diploma for someone who couldn't finish high school. Obviously, therefore, most colleges would not accept it. The exception might be community colleges, who accept anyone with a high school diploma or equivalent. So if you did the GED, then went to a community college, transferred to a four-year college, and then went to medical school, you could become a doctor. The problem is that the GED is usually taken by people who couldn't handle high school for whatever reason, so most four-year colleges and medical schools, who want the best students possible, would wonder if you could handle their curriculum if even high school was a problem for you. You could probably do it if there was a temporary reason why you couldn't go to school which got resolved later (you were seriously ill and couldn't go to school, but were cured and now were okay).

When you apply for med school they are not going to care much what you did in high school. Except, if you dropped out of high school for some good reason, and then fought your way through college with a good record, the med schools would probably consider that a sign of determination and persistence. A good thing.
Most colleges will take a GED as the equivalent of a high school diploma. You probably won't be going to Duke, Emory or Vanderbilt, but you will be able to get into a lot of schools. You can call and talk to the admissions officers. As long as you don't have any disciplinary record or anything bad in your history, then you should be OK.
Good luck. Becoming an MD is a very formidable challenge, but it is not impossible.

Yes, you can become a doctor even if you have a GED. Most colleges do not accept people with a GED directly. You must first complete two years at a junior college and then transfer to a four year university and upon completion of that you can then take the mcat and apply for medical school. If in doubt you should contact the schools you are interested in attending and ask them for information about admission requirements.

A GED is the same as a high school diploma as far as the education system is concerned. Yes, you can become a doctor with a GED, and virtually all colleges in GA will accept it.
A GED actually means more to some people than the HS diploma, because it means that you put in extra time and effort to go back and finish your education, and because in the tests that you have to take to pass the GED are actually a bit tougher than most HS finals. If there's any downsides to getting your GED, they are far outweighed by the benefits.
