We blow about $1 TRILLION a year sending our military around the world to fight wars and wait at bases... to fight wars. We've got over 700 bases in foreign countries!

Why?

A TRILLION DOLLARS is roughly $3300 for every man, woman, child and baby in America. Which would you rather have? American soliders dying in foreign lands? Or $3300 in your pocket every year?

Some idiots think it's about combating "radical islam". Well, hell. If we're just going to kill Muslims, why not use nukes? We've got plenty!

On the other hand, maybe if we didn't have bases in their "holy lands", and weren't overthrowing their (lawfully elected) governments (like we did when we installed the Shah of Iran) and maybe if we weren't bombing them (as we did for ten years before 9/11) maybe... just maybe, they wouldn't be as pissed at us?

To clarify - $3300 per person is the cost of OVERSEAS operations. I never said we didn't need a military. We just don't need one that has 700+ bases scattered around the world costing us a TRILLION dollars on top of military expenses stateside.

Ron Paul is the only candiate that will lower overseas operations and costs and go after the real terrorists (Osama Bin Laden, Unlike Bush, the Dems or the other Repubs), and finally allow the people to have a say in their government.

America has become something simillar with the Roman empire in the 4th-5th centuries AD when the Imperial goverment levied opppressive taxes from the civilian population to fund a gigntic for the stadards of time war machine, (400.000-600.000 according to the Nottitia Dignitatum) only to cruble though a combintion of uprising from within (for examlple the case of Bacaudae in Gaul) and invasions from without (Franks Huns ect). I am afraid that the American Empire is going to the same destination and perhaps it is going to be overthrown in a similar way. Afrer all this is hinded in Nail's Fergusson book "Collossus" (This writer is very friedly to the Bush political faction and so he cannot be put down as a liberal)

I believe the U.S. spends more money on military than the rest of the world COMBINED. The military-industrial complex the Ike warned about runs this country. The U.S. has been involved in some major military action virtually non-stop since WW I. Don't be fooled any more, people, the companies who make the things needed for war run this country, and it will be our ruin when all the other countries in the world who have not been spending all their money on arms and instead buliding their own countries and oh by the way BUYING LARGE PARTS OF OURS decide to call in their markers. Our time as the world's superpower will be over sooner rather than later. I only hope that the egotistical, proud and arrogant people in charge have enough sense to accept that we are done as the dominant force in the world and learn to live with it.

Not sure where you got your numbers, but US military spending is about $700 billion, which would be a lot less if it weren't for the Iraq war. Cut that out and our military spending is around $400 billion.

Where we are spending ourselves into ruin is in entitlement spending, which won't end when the Iraq war ends. We spend nearly $600 billion on So-So Security, $400 billion on Medicare, $370 billion on unemployment and welfare, $270 billion on Medicaid, and $240 billion on interest on the debt. The rest of our spending totals less than $500 billion, including only $25 billion on science and technology.

Stop blaming all of America's fiscal problems on its military. Start blaming senior citizens and the poor, who are bleeding this country dry.

You kin to Harry Reid, Nancy Pee or Biliary, got to be one or the other. I would rather have a strong Military and Defense, and let the parents, if necessary . both husband and wife work to support their own family, instead of sponging off the government. Apparently you have absolutely no understanding of the importance of Defense, Military and National Security. Who is going to defend all these men, women and babies in America during a attack, if we have No Military, No strong defense and No National Security. I guarantee $3300.00 in your pocket every year, will not even cover your rent, much less money to protect your own self.

It is time for the Government to start letting the people govern as they should. They work for us but don't listen to us. There should be a vote on every law passed, every dollar spent and every raise given. It is time for a new America, it is time for us to take back our country. I have been reading up on Ron Paul and he seems to be real decent. With luck and God on our side I pray we win.

I'd rather fork out the trillions of dollars, than to be servants to radical Islam. If it kills terrorists, then it's money well spent.

If you don't like it, the last time I checked, the American border is open, and you are free to leave.
