You go to war... while overseas you find out your mom is asking everyone if you have died yet. They finally ask her why and she says because if you die she'll collect the beneficiary money (250,000) dollars.
You finally make it home and go to visit her and pick up your car. She says, I was getting ready to sell it for 7,000 dollars if you wait I'll split it with you (but you bought the car yourself with your own money).
Then you finally get notice from the bank that your mom was trying to withdrawl all your money while you were overseas.
(what would you do?)

I had to ask my sons about this. My oldest is very logical and practical. He said it would hurt, but he would take his car, change his beneficiary, change his bank account access to EXCLUDE his mom (me), and try to just get on with things.

My younger son is more sensitive and easy to hurt. He said he would do all of the above, then mail me a one way ticket to Iraq.

Both boys said it would hurt like hell. Both boys said they would not speak to me for a long, long time - maybe never.

(ages of my sons: 22 yr old and 25 yr old).

I hope this didn't happen to you. Sending strength to you if it did. BB

Thank you for serving our country!!!

1) I would get my car away from her.

2) Then I would have my bank or credit union run a credit check on me to see if "dear old Mom" has tried to steal my identity or rack up bills in my name.

3) Re: hoping you would die in war so she could get the beneficiary money is sooo cold and so un-motherly!!

I would tell Mom to go to hell! And change the name on your beneficiary policy to someone who cares about you!!

I don't mean to sound harsh, but no one deserves to have a mother like that!!

I hope you can have a good life in spite of your mother!!

I didn't know you knew my mom. Seriously, that sounds like something my mother would do.

I would get in my car and leave before I suckerpunched her. Wait until I cooled off then call her and confront her. What I did from there would depend on her "explanation," although I can't imagine one where I'd be able to overlook all of that. Then, I would have to decide if she's the kind of person I want in my life.

Wow....seriously your mom did that to you?? Best thing you could do is just leave her alone. Sever all ties with her...she is obviously after one thing only. You know was she like this before?? As dumb as it may sound maybe she has a problem...like gambling or even drugs or alchol? I can think of no other reason a mother would do that to her children other than just being heartless.....I hope you the best. Thank you for fighting for our country! I appreciate it....

Have a good, earnest talk with her that you're alive, and her gestures really troubled you. Is your dad involved in this matter at all, either way? Sorry, but I find her efforts to make cash off your absence tasteless and self-serving.

First of all you need to hire a lawyer and make someone else beneficiary...ASAP. Second I would completely cut her out of my life. And never speak to her again...That's what I would do if it was my mom.

Be grateful that I am not like her, pity her for whatever her issues are that require your money, And stay as far away from her as you can.
You deserve to be treated as a worthwhile human being!

Some moms are just that way. I've had that experience. Just let it go.
Might be some way of her dealing with it.
Did she want you to join the military?

I would go on a rampage and withdraw all her money.

Edit: Actually, I'd play dead and then I'd pop up in a couple of years and pretend to haunt her.

That is so sad, you are fighting for your country and all she can think about is the money?! I would have a serious talk with her about what really matters.
