I just received a phone call from Acor or/maybe Accor who said that I won a free vacation either in Australia or overseas (eg Fiji) and they want me to make an appointment with them to obtain my promotion. My question is who are they?? I have never heard of acor/accor? I cant find them in the phone book and on the internet? Is this a scam or am I just looking in wrong places. I was told by them they are well know for their promotions in Australia. When I told them I have to think about, they have called me 3 times since then! Does anybody know about this! Please help so I don’t make a mistake! By the way the speak with an accent.

It will be Accor (www.accorhotels.com.au) and it sounds to me like you have not entered any competition so I would be careful. Genuine competitions have a marketing purpose (to raise the profile of the company and convince you to buy their product) and you don't accidentally enter them as this defeats the purpose. This sounds like a straight marketing statetegy rather than a competition. They are just calling random people (names and phone numbers sold to them by a third party) and offering them this. To start with, I would be very suspicious of any company chasing you to give you something for free!!
I have heard of other people being offered this sort of thing. It will be part of a holiday, probably part of the accommodation, being offered for "free". You then need to pay for the rest as well as airfares etc. It is possible you may be getting a good deal but in the instances that I am aware of it ended up costing the same as if you did not have the "free" bit.
The difference being that, although paying the same amount, you don't get a choice about where you go (and possibly when you go) and they get the added bonus of convincing you to go somewhere where they had vacancies anyway and were not going to be making any money. If you do go to the appointment be very aware of this and check carefully for hidden costs, but in my experience it is not worth attending the appointment.

accor are a holiday promotion club....you have to go along and listen to there seminar and in return they apparently give you a free holiday (accommodation only).... This is legit as i have friends that work in the call centre on the gold coast...
Just thought i'd give you a bit of info incase you think your being scammed.

I don't know who it is, but I'd stick with the old addage on this one "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is"
Besides, if you didn't enter, you can't win. It's a scam
