First of all nothing is going to make you relax, you should not try using one if you are uncomfortable with the idea. I didn't start using tampons for awhile, because I was also afraid it would hurt. Honestly it does not at all I know that is hard to believe but if you put it in right it doesn't hurt at all. I remember the first few times I used one though I was to scared to put it in far enough and it was uncomfortable because of that but honestly there is no pain involved.

I had the same fear when I was young. The way that I found best to do it was when I was NOT on my period. It isn't quite as gross then, and will make it more relaxing. Just be calm and try sticking one leg up on the bathroom counter. Then, using the mirror to help you see, slowly insert the tampon. It should not hurt at all. Just be careful, and go slowly. Practice some while you are not on your period, that way when the "real deal" comes, you will be prepared. It takes a few tries, but you will get it. The best kind to use is one with a smooth plastic applicator. If you use the non-applicator kind, or the cardboard applicators, they are much harder, and uncombfortable in my opinion. Good Luck!

I was 9 when I started my period but waited till I was 12-13 till I used tampons for the first time. I can tell you what I did and maybe it will work for you.
Lay in your bath tub (make sure the door is locked) and lay back completely relaxed. then just follow the directions on the box. it may take a while to get one in right and if when you stand up you can feel it then you need to take it out cause it is not in right. fell free to email or message me if you need to and I will help any way I can.

Personally, I don't like tampons. I have a feeling of a long wad of cotton up is strange. I don't like the idea of having something up there, even if I can't feel it.
I get very lightheaded and shaky, and the last time I tried to go though with it, I fainted and I could hardly breathe. It's like a phobia I have, I just got this stupid idea in my mind and it esculated into that. Maybe I'll try again someday. I can't help it, but Im so used to pads and like they don't bother me one bit.

The girl who answered first gave some good suggestions. I agree with her. Just practice in a low pressure situation. What I mean is, don't expect to be able to use one for the first time right before you go swimming, practice when it doesn't matter, and you have lots of time, and you have pads ready as option 2. You get used to them. Once they're in they're completely comfortable, its just hard to get the hang of inserting one.
Practice, and use a lubricant if you need to. Its not as scary as it seems.
You probably shouldn't try until you are really relaxed, becasue tense muscles make it more difficult.
You'll be completely fine!!! They just take some getting used to.

Don't try them until you feel okay about it. I was a little nervous too, but for no reason. It doesn't hurt at all. It may seem a little odd at first but after that you probably won't even feel it. It was so long ago I can't believe I was worried but I remember I was! Make sure you have plenty of time and privacy the first few times. It will be fine, I'm sure!!

No! i comprehend how u ought to think of this yet whilst u study TRACY COX's large intercourse u will discover that particularly the extra interest your vagina gets the extra its muscle groups are worked and that's a thank you to dodge a "loose section" down there. sleeping with tampons can effect in TSS, on condition that u sleep with them in for too long. I advise a pad for mattress time. Tampons won't make u loose.

Tampons nauseated me, too, until I finally just decided to do it. If you know where to insert the tampon, you won't be so grossed out by it. You can't even feel it once its inside.
And don't worry about hurting yourself. You're designed to take a lot of wear and tear anyway.

They don't hurt. You might feel a slight discomfort the first time you put one in, but they should never hurt. If they do, it's a sign that they aren't in all the way. Just remove it and try again.
