I want to know how a Psychologist start the conversation with a patient...How they introduce themselves, and how they get the person to talk about the problems (if the person doesn't feel like talking about the problems)....!

I will introduce myself by my first name and my title. I will usually talk to them about confidentiality and allow them an opportunity to ask me any questions. Then I will usually start with the question, "What brings you in today?" (BTW, I have never said, "So, tell me about your mother.")
People will usually take over from there. Very rarely will I have someone say, "I don't know why I'm here" and then say nothing. I've had some hesitant people that will be less willing to talk and I'll usually say, "I understand that this is difficult. But you came in here for a reason and the only way for me to understand that and help you to to ask these questions and for you to tell me what's going on."
For the most part, unless you're working with adolescents or in a jail, people are pretty talkative about their problems.

If they don't really want to talk, start talking about something insignificant that they are interested in. Try out a question now and then....wait as long as you need to for the person to trust you. Most everyone I ever saw in therapy wanted to talk and I just needed to be an intelligent listener.

Almost anyone who comes in wants help. The exceptions are those that are court ordered.

The typical question is "what brings you here today?" which is more neutral than something like 'what's wrong?' because that implies the patient has a problem and will make the patient defensive, if only on a subconscious level.

Perhaps you could go to the emergency room if its serious. I have seen a psychologist there before. Sometimes they even have a neurologist. You just have to find the right hospital.

I think they generally start by asking, "Hows your relationship with your mother?" I'm so tired of hearing that question...
