Of the non-expansion teams, I'd have to say they've got the poorest team history, at least based on record. They've also been around in one form or another for about 125 years and have only one World Series to show for it.
Still, I wouldn't call them the worst in pro sports. The LA Clippers have been in the NBA for almost 40 years and have a .368 winning percentage, 100 points below the Phils. The Clipper have only made the playoffs seven times in that span, and this past year was the first time since the mid-70s that they advanced beyond the first round.
The Phillies might be baseball's "biggest losers," but there's definitely worse out there.

Nah. They've won the World Series before. Some teams haven't. They've been around forever. Some teams only lasted a little while. Maybe there are teams that are in other sports with fewer lossed who are worse. If a team in the NFL lost every game since the NFL began, they still wouldn't have 10,000 losses.

the old Philadelphia A's and the the st Louis brows may have not lost as many games but they were some god awful teams. the Phillie's have just been around for a long time heck the clubs i mean the cubs are right on there heels. so look at this way you don't lose that may games unless you have a team in your city for quite some time.

That's debatable, but I would say that they are not the worst team in sports history, or even in the history of MLB. Both them and the Royals have won the world series at least once, and while they aren't doing so well as of late, their record of futility can't be compared to that of the Cubs, the only franchise that I know of that have gone 100 years since their last championship.

Considering that Colorado, San Diego, Tampa Bay & Texas have worse overall winning % than Philadelphia, I would say no.
The San Diego Clippers have an overall win % of .368 which averages out to 30 wins per season.

Nope, its funny for you to even think that.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays never has had a winning season in their franchise history. The Phillies at least has a WS ring.

I put them at second worst since they at least won the world series in 1980. My first pick for worst is the cubs. They haven't won a world series since 1908. in two years unless they win it they will have gone 100 years without winning the world series. That is embarrising.

They are one of the worst. All those losses really mean is that they've been around a hell of a long time. . . .

The Washington Generals are (1927-1995) they lost over 13,000. They are now referred to as the New York Nationals and are still losing.....by the way if you don't know, they lose their games to the Harlem Globetrotters....
