When you tell a story, do you often exaggerate or embellish it? If so, Why?

people always spice up gossip. it's because they want the listener to feel like they have a great story and a more interesting story always gets more attention. tabloids always do this. some biographers also hype their subjects intelligence, habits and other details so that thier books sell.
