A military career is not for everyone. You have to be dedicated to freedom and liberty and willing to give your life for it. Especially now in a time of war.
There are many benefits to joining like, 30 days paid vacation every year, the GI bill for education, pretty decent pay and free medical. Also, the military instills discipline and ethics that is hard to learn anywhere else.
There are also many challenges, like: you have to be fit and stay fit. You may get deployed for extended periods to remote and dangerous places. And you are expected to follow and eventually lead others. If these types of things bother you, you may not want to consider joining. Good Luck

The profession of arms is a noble calling that shouldn't be taken lightly. Remember, you are not only gaining free education, veterans' benefits, and the chance to see the world, you are getting the opportunity to die for your country whether or not you agree with the cause.
You only volunteer once, after that, it's all madatory.
Please do not take the benefits without accepting the obligations.

If you're asking if you should join, I say that only you can make that decision for yourself. You need to look at what's important to you and what you plan to do with your life. It can offer a lot of rewards (college, job training, leadership experience, looks great on a resume), but it shouldn't be undertaken lightly.
If you're asking about which branch, I can only tell you my thinking on the matter. I chose the United States Marine Corps for one reason: when the crap hit the fan, I wanted the guy standing next to me to be the toughest SOB I could find. Just my opinion though. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Don't do it. The people in charge do not really care about the soldiers, sailors, etc., they only care that McConnell-Douglas, GE, Boeing, etc, keep getting lots of money to keep building weapons so the companies can then return a small percentage of that money (our money, by the way) to the politician's campaign funds, so the pols can keep getting elected and keep the cycle going. For all the high-fallootin' talk about peace, freedom, eliminating terror, etc, it all comes down to money. DON"T BE CANNON FODDER SO THE MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX CAN MAKE MORE BLOOD MONEY!!
