I have 2 of what seems to be seated liberty silver dollar coins.
One is dated 1844, the other is 1845.
They are marked CC, which according to a site means they were made in Carson City.
Thing is, and I can't find that site anymore, I remember reading that Carson City silver dollars weren't made during the years of 1844 and 1845. So does that mean that this is a fake?

The Carson City mint was in operation from 1870-1893. So the two dollars you have are fakes or fantasies. A lot are coming in from China. I found an 1845 Seated Dollar with the reverse of a Trade dollar on it. The trade dollars were made from 1873-1885. Some one really blew it there. Most of the time a counterfeiter's or a person that makes fakes forget about how much the coin should weigh, this gives them away. They also have trouble with English over in the Orient due to the engraves are usually illiterate so they spell things wrong or engrave in a style of letters not used on that type of coin. If the lettering and device lines are mushy and not Sharp that is also a tell tale sign. One must be very careful on Seated Liberty as well as Trade dollars from now on.

even good fakes can have value, so take it to a coin dealer & see what it`s worth.
