Okay just wondering if anyone can help me quickly, when going to this website to troubleshoot a D-link DSL-502T router, the end of step 3, after entering the given IP addresses etc, where it says to go "Try to access the router. Open Internet Explorer and type 10.1.1.1" Well I did that. And it asked me for a username and password. What is this? Am I supposed to know this already, like the internet logon or something? Oor? Thanks in advance.

Without sounding smug you need to get out the paperwork that came with the router. The IP address you should be typing in is 192.168.1.1
10.1.1.1 is the Address used for Apple Airport Wireless Routers
Follow the instructions step by step.
To access the Security features is by typing in the address I provided, as shown in the paperwork.
Next when it asks for your username and password, this is what it is asking for either the WEP. WPA or WPA-2 Security. This means that somewhere along the line you have put in settings that require the use of a username and password to access the network.
Follow the Paperwork and if you don't understand some of the terms used then seek out a friend that has set up a wireless network, iy can be confusing get out the paperwork.

What is it you are having trouble with the router? When you type in that number, that is the address of the router. In the manual it should tell you what the username and password is for your router. Usually the username is administrator and no password. This will let you into the router to make changes on how it behaves. Every router I ever used (4 ) it is mostly plug and play or you run a setup program and it configures your system for you.

by default i believe the user name and password is
admin is the username
password is blank (don't type anything)
hope that helps, then you should be able to log into the router
