When I scrapped my knee blocking a truck from hitting my daughter.
We were walking across our street when an idiot.. using the strongest word answers will allow.. came around the corner without stopping at the stop sign and headed right for us. We were smack in the middle of the street and there was no way to avoid being hit unless he ran off the road or into a parked car... even with the parked car we would probably have been hit so back to only going off the road and hopefully he wouldnt rebound off the curb and hit us anyway....
I pulled my daughter into my arms and ran/jumped toward our house I got hit while in the air (thankfully) and my daughter was in front of me against my body and the car hit me from behind (again thankfully) as I was already going in the same direction (but at an angle) I suffered little bruiseing and my daughter suffered none. I landed on the edge of the sidewalk on my knees and rolled over to my back keeping my daughter against my stomach (who says too many meals are bad for you.. my spare tire kept my daughter safe lol) I had hit the edge of the curb with my knees so both took the brunt of the force and got scrapped,
The idiot was running from the police, thus the speed and lack of stopping. He did stop after hitting me as he was concerned that he had killed me and or my daughter. That and it turns out he was wanted on petty stuff and failure to stop and render aid was worse.
The police showed up about 20 seconds after he got out of his car. My wife and 3 month old son had come running out.. ok wife running son carried, to see what was going on. I had a LOT of blood on my legs (scrapes will do that too you) but other than that we were fine. I was up by the time the police showed up and they were already cuffing him. My daughter was yelling like crazy at the guy, she will be four next month. The police were trying to not laugh as she kept yelling... You made a bad choice!! Somehow I couldnt come up with anything better to say. One of the cops asked if he could qoute my daughter when this guy went in front of the judge.
All said and done.. My daughter is fine.. KNOWS to look both ways when you cross the street even tho that doesnt always work. Knows to expect the unexpected. Had a great photo for show and tell on Friday.
My wife is ok... REALLY freaked out and ready to move due to the accident. My son was upset, but when Mommy calmed down enough to go and sit and finish feeding him he was ok too.
Me? Just some scabs on my knees that my daugther likes to poke cause she likes to see me jump ( I exagerate a LOT as I know she likes it... she pokes my scab, i SCREAM!!! she laughs... Even my son laughs at that.)
Him (driver) got attempted manslaughter added to his list of crimes.

I had to put the baby gate up while we were painting so the baby wouldn't get into the paint. He started to cry and I reached around the door frame to get something. When I did that, the babygate gave way and I fell with it. I have the most angry bruise on my shin and I can't wear shorts until it goes away. IT IS HUGE!
