His reasons for not wanting to run are so thin and weak, and he breaks tradition by not choosing to run and does his party a great dis-service by dissapointing those who would love to see eight more years of the same thing.

Could he still change his mind and step up to the plate and run, and if so, would that send out the 2004 Republican voters in happy hoardes to the primaries?

Could he still change his mind and cut his planned retirement to Dubai a bit short "?

When I said weak and thin, I expected the health thing to be mentioned. Like I said, that's weak and this, so much so that if Cheney was really that worried about his health, he should never have joined up fo a second round. However, I suspect that he can't just step aside keep his hands out of the cookie jar *cough* US Treasury *cough* for too long.

No, not really. Bush is the face of the machine -- the guy you want to have a beer with. Cheney is the guy who shoots you in the face. It's a great political one-two.

Bush was an excellent choice because he seemed so down to earth -- a compassionate conservative, but little did America know of the other people they were essentially electing along with him.

In all seriousness, Cheney's approval rating speaks for itself. Go F yourself, indeed.

He's probably not running because of his heart condition. Fred Thompson's getting heat because he had cancer a few years back even though he's been in remission for quite a while, so imagine the fearmongering that would surround Cheney's four heart attacks.

*Edit: I stand by argument. People expect presidents to be in fairly good health and the press makes a really big deal over illnesses. I don't know why you think that isn't a good argument, but I suspect it's because you don't know a lot about politics.

First he is in poor health and has had many heart attacks. This alone is a good reason not to run.

Second, he never even intended to be Vice President and was quite happy being out of public eye and in Haliburton. He probably does want to retire and get out while he still has his head on his shoulders.

Thirdly, he has no chance at being elected as even many who don't mind Bush, and all who hate Bush, hate Cheney.

Combine all of these and he is quite possibly the worst candidate for the election that anyone has even considered.

Cheney will be far too busy counting the money he made from the Iraq war to run for president. Besides, he has done more than enough damage to the USA to last a lifetime. If he ran, he would be laughed off the circuit and have to hide for his life since most of America and the world hates him. Do you read newspapers? Watch news?

There is no way in hell Cheney could ever get elected. Aside from the fact that the majority of dems and indies are unhappy with the Bush administration, a growing number of republicans are upset with them as well.

His reasons are thin and weak? The man has heart attacks like they're a bodily function. He almost didn't come on for Bush's second term because of his health, the party had to beg him. No one ever expected he would run this time.

If Cheney ran for president there would be riots in the streets of America. He is undoubtedly the worst politician that Washington has ever experienced.

Dick Cheney said over 8 years ago when he was selected as the running mate that he would not run for president when it was all over.
