They did. They corralled them during the Democratic Convention and jailed them. They beat them senseless with their billy clubs. They falsely imprisoned them. Our government has never made it easy to disagree with them.
Look at Kent State, they just shot them to death. They blew up buildings and blamed the hippies.

Frank, were you even a twinkle in your fathers eye in 1968? I was a junior in high school and got to see alot of live coverage on TV from Chicago.
A number of towns in the collar counties around Chicago were called and asked about the possibility of having police from those towns available if needed. Even our little town.
Also have to remember, "thousands" were not arrested. Some heads got beaten and a Sheriff had his neck broken and feces and urine were thrown at the Police as were apples with nails and thorns in them. Wasn't all one sided.
I can take an hours worth of video, edit out what I don't want and can make an average small incident look like a full blown riot. No one ever gets to see the whole tape, because it wouldn't serve the designed purpose then.
Believe 'twas the Democratic convention.

It's hard to take people like that seriously, so why take up prison space with those smelly pigs? Those fringe hippie groups can't organize a coherent sentence, much less a political movement to make an impact on anything.
Most hippies are fine. I'm talking about the ones you referred to who want to put LSD in the water supply.

They weren't terrorists, they also weren't nearly as peaceful as most people would like you to believe. It's rare to see it in documentary footage, but protests routinely got way out of hand and violent. There were reasons the National Guard was often called in to monitor the situation. It wasn't uncommon for 'peaceful protesters' to lob molitov cocktails at soldiers and cops, or set fire to property. One of the untold stories of Kent State was that the reason the National Guard was called out was because the hippies had burned down the ROTC building the day before. However, they didn't attack civilians to advance their agenda, so don't qualify as terrorists.

Actually, Frank, the FBI did arrest them all. They sent them to Iraq, where they bred with the Iraqi locals. Their children grew up in Iraq and are now called Iraqi insurgents by the American media.
America is still trying to get rid of the hippies, Frank. They're trying to get rid of them over there... so they don't have to get rid of them over here.

A small number of people committed crimes--jand were caught and punished.
The rest were exercixing their right to protest and speak freely. The fact that you dislike that and want to lump them with a tiny group of criminals doesn't discredit them--it only shows how bigoted--and therefore unAmerican--you are.
