Environmentalism is a religion. They say we all must behave a certain way, and if we don't, an invisible force will come down and punish us all. That is a religion by every definition of the word.
How many times have you heard the phrase "Mother Earth" in the news in the last few weeks? I have, plenty.

lol... Since when, exactly, does what religion you are matter in this country? Why are you trying to make it sound like a bad thing?
You have a few choices (just to name two):
A) There is nothing wrong with the Earth, this is a natural cycle of warming
B) There is something wrong with the atmosphere and it's caused by humans
Now, if A) is TRUE, then what these people are doing is still good for all of humanity! Cleaner air = healthier people. So why not let them do all that they can to "save" the planet?
If B) is TRUE, then it's a double whammy. Save mankind and help people live healthier lives.

I doubt it. I advise, if there must be a important international faith, i'd incredibly or no longer it incredibly is a few thing like Paganism, Buddhism, Pantheism Taoism, and so on. than an Abrahamic faith, yet via fact Paganism isn't evangelistic (to no longer point out does not stress conversions with the help of ability of torture and slaughter like Christianity did) and not fairly huge-unfold I doubt it would have the skill to p.c.. up the momentum mandatory for considered one of these situation to take place.

No, I can't agree to that. Dogma is dogma, and we will always have beliefs that stimulate strong emotions even if we eliminate religion. Ever seen that South Park dealing with the subject? Heh. Still, we have to take care of the Earth, and even the bible said so. We are the stewards.
But most of the left is still Christian, many denominations contain more democrats than republicans, and very few people are atheists in America. The polls do not back you up, though in the limited context of this web-board, you may be correct.
You have to go into post-graduates and members of the scientific community to find groups in which a solid majority do not believe in God. (And again, yahoo answers + the internet).

Those "pagan" Native Americans' religion culminated in being caretakers of the Earth, before all you Judeo-Christians (with all your supposed "values") came along to contaminate and destroy the land. I'll take the Pagans any day, but it hasn't got a thing to do with my political inclinations.

Do you ever read the bible? It's chock full of Stewardship of the Earth:
Lev. 25:23-24. The land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land.
Psalms 104:25,30. In wisdom you made them all, the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number - living things both large and small... When you send your Spirit, they are created and you renew the earth.
Or...
Ezekiel 34:2-4. Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not the shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you did
not take care of the flock! You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally.
Finally a little something for those that listen to Rush:
Exodus 23:2. Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong.

Hardly. Most pagans and wiccans I know tend to dislike the attempts of zealots to brand their religion as secular humanism. Wiccans tend to be feminists only in most practitioners are women seeking to empower themselves.

Most liberals are Christians--a fact which everyone but the right-wing cults on the right is aware of.
Now here's a question for you: Read the Sermon on the MOunt. And ask yourself--doesn't that sound more like the liberals' values? That will tell you who are the REAL Christians.

I'm slightly left of center, and I'm a Christian. But that doesn't mean that I'm interested in the destruction of this wonderfully nice planet that God gave us. I think you should look into your Bible and read a little about being good stewards of the bounty God has given us.
Or are you one of those conservatives whose only deity is the Almighty Dollar, and you'll commit the destruction of the all God's Creation to get as many of them as you can?

I don't believe Jesus would have advocated destroying the Earth. Why would the Lord be happy with us destroying what He made. I don't see how global warming and trashing the Earth is a religious issue. I'm beginning to think Obama is right about certain elements trying to hijack Christianity. Not that I'd vote for him, but he has a point.
