You would be in the hottest time of the year, and also the most humid. You would also be in the height of "Hurricane season" which can be hit or miss. Hurricane season runs from June through November.

I would recommend that you try another time of the year.

I have a place in Miami and I can say that we would never consider going there at that time of the year. Been there done that.

My favorite time of the year is March/April. I think the weather is generally good at that time of the year and the oppressive humidity of August is long gone for the most part. Also NO chance of a hurricane.

August isn't the best month. Even though August is the hottest month of the year, it's also the hottest month of the year everywhere else. The downfall is the horrible thunderstorms that occur on a daily basis, and come out of nowhere.

The best month is February. Not only is the weather amazing (the locals are cold, but tourists find it a nice temp.) but there are tons of activities to do. We have the Coconut Grove Art Festival, Miami Boat Show, and South Beach Food and Wine Festival. If you do plan on going this time of year, book in advance, because hotels fill up quickly that time of year.

August is nice since there is not alot of people, But make sure you do everything that has to be done outside in the mourning because it will rain in the afternoon 80% of the days in august. Thunderstorms every day in the summer. Also it is very hot and humid and there is always a chance of Hurricanes.
Most people visit in December-April. That is when it is cold every else in the country except for Florida. But even Central and North Florida will get cold in the 30s and 20s in January,Febuary. South Florida never gets colder than 40s. So it all depends on what you want to do, if you mind the rain etc.. Any time of the year is a good time, but again the summer in Florida is very hot and wet.

If you like the threat of Hurricanes, August is a great month. September is when you will get the best deals and shortest lines on the Attractions because the kids are all back in school. If you are going to vacation in August i recommend you be on the east side on the water. It will be cooler.

Best Month To Visit Florida

November is the best month. August is WAY too hot to enjoy the beach... you'll be baking by the time you step out of the hotel. It gets to the 100's in August plus that's when hurricanes usually start cooking up. I would definitely recommend visiting in November.

Steven H is right when he says it rains a lot in the afternoons.

The good thing about visiting in August is that hotels rates are the cheapest you'll find all year.

Mosquitos are not that bad in the CIty and the Beach.

For those here who say August is a horrible time to visit...fun is what you make it.

august is good cuz it's not "season" down here yet, so rates for almost everything will be cheaper. including the plane ticket. you just have to deal with heat and some afternoon rain. but it always seems to clear up for a beuatiful sunset. the southwest coast of florida is nice also. ALOT less people than miami, and great beaches.

the end of august is the best and cheapest time to go to Florida because all of the southern states are back in school...places are not crowded at all....the only down side is that its hurricane season, but it never has effected my trip for 13 years
