No, but when I was a waiter, I was stiffed once or twice.
One time, I was serving a party of four, I think I forgot to bring a steak knife right away, and the host let me have it but good! I even went out of my way to try to make their evening nice, but the guy bitched and moaned to the owner, and left me ONE penny! Well, I wasn't going to stand for that! I ran out into the parking lot and said, "Excuse me sir, you accidentally left this on the table!"
The guy said, "No, I want you to have it! That's what your service is worth."
I said, "No, sir, I want YOU to have it; you need it more than I do."
He said, "You keep it. The way you work you need every penny you can get.."
Finally, I forced it into his hand and said, "No sir, you need it to buy yourself some class! It won't buy you much, but it will buy you more than you have!" Then I stormed back into the restaurant.
The guy went into the restaurant and starting demanding that the owner fire me, which the owner didn't do. The owner thought the guy was an asshole, too.

I have if the waitstaff has done nothing then I give nothing but if they respect you and are sensitive to the conversation you are having with someone with you and they make sure that my water glass is filled and has a great attitude then I defiantly over tip by at least 20%. The whole thing about the employers giveing so little wages is wrong they should get a competitive wage and the tips should be just an extra bonus for the day

The purpose of a tip is to reward a server or other person for providing excellent service. It makes me very mad when people just tip or when servers expect tips just because. If I receive really terrible service I am not going to leave a tip. There have been plenty of times when I haven't tipped. Also if there was really no service (i.e. they just bring me the food then the check) then they didn't really do anything and don't deserve a tip.

No. I owe a restaurant, so I know hows it like for the waiters and waitress. The worst service I got was at Chilis. The girl seemed to be in a bad mood, and had no expression when I was talking to her. It took her forever to refill my drink, and when she did she did it with a attitude. I usually tip 15- 20%, but I only tipped her 10%. I personally believe that you shouldn't bring your personal life to work, but its hard so I understand for my workers when they are having a bad day.

I always have left a tip, but I wouldn't think twice about not leaving one if the waiter/waitress is being a prick! Then I make sure I grab their attention for a moment while I'm leaving and show 'em the bird (of course I would never return to the restaurant b/c bbbaaaaddd things will happen to your food if you do!)

I tip on the basis of the service given. Only once has the service been so bad I left nothing. Usually I am a good tipper.

Yes I've left without tipping when the service's bad or slow or the waitress was rude. I think it gives a clear message.
