I'm not Christian, so I'm not about to claim that I turn to the Bible for guidance regarding my behavior or spiritual growth. However, other people in LGBT may feel the Bible plays a role in their lives.

What statements does the Bible make regarding sexuality that is relevant to a modern lesbian or gay man? How should Christian gay folks apply these ideas?

I'm not sure if you were asking which parts of the bible were discriminatory towards homosexuals. My father has been a minister for 26 years so I have been a Bible thumper my whole life. I know whatever he taught me about homosexuality and he doesn't think I am going to hell. There are a couple of things in the Bible that he showed me to make me feel ok with being a lesbian. In the Bible it says that homosexualtiy is an abomination, my father did some research and realized that is actually a mistranslation of another word. The Hebrew word for abomination means, not of our culture. Not of our culture implies that they just didn't accept it, not that it was a sin.

The Bible also says that every sin is the same, from murder, to a lie so what makes us worse than others. The Bible also says that thinking of sinning is equally wrong in Gods eyes. Hmmmm..... So , if we are born homosexual, basically we have to spend our entire life in a box to avoid having sexual thoughts. Its horrible for me to say but I think that anybody that believes the entire Bible is very deluded. People only accept the parts they want to accept.

I really, honestly wonder if the bible has anything relevant to say at all on anything. There was a post made by someone this evening that really, really opened my eyes about the god of the bible. I think it was Radagast23, or something like that. He also included a link to a useful site. I've added it too.

There's better ways to look it up than yahoo answers.
okay I'm going to list SOME referances to sex in general:
1Thessalonians 4:1-8
Colossian 3:5-6
1Corinthians 6:9-20
Song of songs 1-8
Matthew 5:27-30
1Corinthians 7:1-7
Proverbs 5, 6:20, & 7:27

Apply as they're inteded to. I know it's hard to go and actualy pick up a bible and read it, but it beats the heck out of reading people who say what they think the bible says when you can just read it yourself.

One thing people try and do is to shun the old testament saying it is not relevant to our times. The book of Leviticus are laws set down for mankind by God. The ten commandments are guidelines to follow. The new testament is an affirmation of the old testament but with the arrival of Jesus. Paul (who at one time Persecuted Christians) tells us in 1st Corinthians chapter 6 verse nine, that homosexuality is wrong. I as a Born Again christian would believe and do believe if it is mentioned in the Bible in both the old and new testament then it has to be one of those sins God really abhors. I have been taught to love the sinner hate the sin. You can be a Christian and Gay, but, one has to abstain from their sexual desires, the same runs true for the hetero sexual, they have to remain abstinent from their lustful ways and depraved desires and only have sex for procreation.

David and Johnathan is a great gay love story. And the whole aposstle thing must be talking about a couple of gays. There is not a lot of sex education in the Bible. Maybe they just accepted most gay and straight bonding as natural. Imagine that.

Oh Geezzzzzz! Leviticus also says that if you eat shell fish (shrimp, crabs, etc) that you should be stoned to death. You can't pick and choose what you are going to abide by and then ignore the rest! Follow it if you are going to follow, but to not follow all of it is a bit hypocritical, don't you think?
