I didn't know people still used the term "Uncle Tom." Interesting.
You are entitled to believe whatever you want to. If it just so happens that you have conservative values, then so be it. I'm sure you're not the only one out there. Forget what everyone else thinks and express your ideas freely.

So many people have died and given their lives so that we may be free. So many people are currently laying their lives down so that we may ask and answer questions. I think we owe it to them to use their gift. That said, we have to respect the values and morales of others that differ from us and embrace those differences where possible without compromise to our own values and there lies the difficulty in some cases.
Some people seem to think their way is the only way when clearly there are many roads that can take a person to the same place with everyones values intact, on those occassions, it is necessary to find some middle ground.

Many people from the South are conservative--rich and poor, Black and White. I don't think you're an Uncle Tom--we are free to believe what we want to.

I agree with owl....if you have to ask this question, then you are not living the life you want to live. Stop pretending to be something you are not because you may make others happy or content, but you are denying your own feelings.
Instead of worrying what your friends (relatives, colleagues, etc) think of you, maybe you should let them know how you feel and try engaging in constructive political debate...you will be amazed at what you can learn about the views from the other side.

You sold out, when you asked the question. What does your skin color have to do with your values. As nutty as they may or may not be, I'm sure you will find some people of all race', creeds and colors feeling like you.
Get a different set of friends.

Of course it doesn't make you an uncle tom, but people who want to intimidate you into changing your mind (or shuttng up) will call you one.
