I like to hang out and take naps in graveyards. Any one else?

Yes, I love cemeteries. Often times I seek them for their beauty and peace. I like to go walking in them, read a book, take pics, or even go on a date there. Cemeteries are definetly some of the best places to visit.

There aren't too many people who like to hang out in graveyards...especially for a snooze.

But, here's something that you might find interesting to do while you're in a graveyard: bring along some big pieces of paper (a great kind to get is the end of rolls of paper used for newsprint or something) and some charcoal pieces. Place the paper over the tombstone and using the charcoal on a flat side, rub across the paper to get an imprint of the grave head. You can learn a lot about who's in your graveyard. Looking up history about the tombstone you've duplicated can be fun as well.

My daughter loves graveyards. She's 7 and for some reason they just fascinate her. I used to work right next to one and her favorite part of bring your daughter to work day was our picnic in the cemetary. She loves to do rubbings and sometimes brings flowers to leave on the graves of children or anyone who might have been born on that day. At first I thought it was really strange, but she is always respectful and it is an unusual way to teach her about history.

Do you have an affinity for the afterlife? Does it make you feel closer to a loved one? Is it just how quiet & peaceful a graveyard is? I certainly hope you`re careful. It`s not the dead you have to worry about but the living.

Someone has already mentioned what I was going to tell you. The craft is called tomb stone rubbing. You could find some really pretty ones to take rubbings off of and mount the rubbings to foam core board and hang them up. Seems like art you would like. Here's the site with more information.

I have " hung out " in graveyards before, but I've never taken a nap in one. I'd be afraid I'd never wake up again!!!

No, but why a grave yard...is it the fact that it's quiet, well maintained or a scent from the flowers??? - or that there are dead people there?
