Considering that the world revolves around evolution, which is the competition of the fittest, often times even if that results in violence. Even plants kill each other. And yes, humans have "morals" (although none of us can know that animals don't because we only remember being human) but aren't all humans inherently individualistic and out for their own good? Even generosity is selfish because it makes one feel better about oneself.

So can peace even exist?

Peace is certainly possible if only temporary.

I say temporary for the reasons you named and so many more...

If we take humans completely out of the equation, all of the plants and animals would be at peace ONLY when they are simultaneously full. If one is hungry, it's not at peace because it's trying to feed itself. If one is hungry, another is not at peace because it is being hunted.

Put humans back into the equation and an initial solution may be to feed the world, wipe out hunger and then there will be peace. I think that's a great idea, and would dull a lot of pain in the world, but it won't bring real peace.

The majority of humans have an innate hunger that goes far beyond food. We tend to want more... more... and never get our fill.

We can only hope that it doesn't take another million years for our cultural practices to evolve into something more humane.

Yes, just almost infinitely unlikely. The world doesn't revolve around evolution.
Also, survival of the fittest isn't based on animals of the same species murdering each other, and some people are actually generous just to help someone and not out of greed for some stupid feeling of self-worth.

Peace is always possible. Peace can happen when people become content with what they have, and see no need for greed, envy or hatred. True peace can exist when there is a genuine care, love, and respect for each other weather it is peace between two people or two billion people.

I agree with you, and I don't think it is possible based on the fact that humans as a whole are judgemental and competive beings
