the trunk of my 2002 s430 is not opening either by remote or from inside of the car....anybody know why ?

The system is eletric, not vacuum. The valet lock for the trunk is engaged. Slide the key blade out of the back of the electronic key. Put the blade in the trunk lock cylinder and turn it 90deg counterclock wise. Remove the blade from the lock and the trunk will operate normally.

There ia a vaccum actuator inside the trunk latch that falls apart,when actuating with your remote key,listen for hissing noise at trunk handle are..to open your trunk machaincaly,use the blade on your remote,insert in lock and turn clock wise and depress the trunk handle.
the trunk latch needs to be replaced completely to resolve your problem.the vaccum/pressure actuator is part of the complete latch.

Once your s430 is locked using the key using the remote will not work because it wont override the manual locking.

Best remedy is to go to your dealership, tell them to connect it to their laptops and find out where the prob is, and then re program the remote. Or they will tell you what exactly is the problem.
To guess is cheap, but to guess wrong is expensive.

suspect key lock override is engaged use master key and unlock trunk [you must use the master key, with the red dot] [this is to keep the valet parking varmints from perusing your personals.

usually wires but maybe fuse... easy way is to go to dealer to check it.
