I don't really know nor do I care. I think it is too complicated a topic to be easily analyzed in such a place as this.
I have had many gay friends over my life and found they were gay for a million reasons. They were all nice folks and that is what counted.
What DOES matter is not the average gay person, male or female, they are just folks. But what I have a problem with is the organized activists who try to push homosexuality on the rest of the world as is happening now. In fact now it is so politically incorrect to dis a gay, it is akin to dissing someone who is racist, anti semitic, sexist or any other "ist" that has been turned into political correctness.
But don't get me started... I think you will not get a true answer here. There is much more to this topic than people think. Genetics perhaps. A phase, rarely. Mental disease? No. Were Da Vinci or Michelangelo mentally deranged? Or Alexander the Great?

None of the above. It's not a choice, it's not hereditary, it's not a 'phase' that stupid. And sure hell isn't a mental disease!!! You truly are a horrible person and not even a human being, I hope you realize that but I know you don't because you continue to exist. You know, I'm beginning to think YOU have a mental disease. But then I remember that you yourself are the disease

None of the above, though heredity was the closest. It's how you're born. Scientists aren't yet sure if it's coded in your genes, but studies prove that it has something to do with the brain. In identical twins, if one's gay there's a 50% chance the other will be. They think it may have something to do with the hormones you're exposed to while you're developing in the womb. It's so far from a disease that's laughable. It's no phase, darling, nobody goes through a "phase" of homosexuality. And it's not a choice, either. You cannot pick and choose who you love. If you could, unrequitted love would be unheard of, as would divorces. A lot of people who are homosexual struggle with it and attempt to change themselves because they don't feel they're accepted. But it can't be changed, it's what makes you you.

Homosexuality for most people is there from the time they are born. I don't know if it's genetics, or how a person's brain is wired. For a few people though, it is a choice. I have one friend who is very open about being attracted to both men and women. But he chooses to be gay. All of the other gay men and women I know were born that way.

common misconseption, homosexuality is always be choice. There are receptors and sensors in the brain that adjust to the pheremones of males and females, if altered, one can become a homosexual, or show homosexual tendencies. I had a cousin who had a girlfriend, but had a brain surgery, and after coming out of it was no longer interested in his girlfriend, and became gay. It is by choise, some poeple have an experimental phase, but don't always chalk it down to a growth process.
It's not a disease, just an alteration, but this is only in some cases.

Well it depends on the person as it's different for everyone. But I think mostly it's a choice of life-style that people make. I have friends that are gay and one of my friends was abused as a child and that's why she turned to the same sex and my other friend had rotten relationships with the opposite sex and that is why she turned to the same sex as well. As far as male homosexuality goes, I have also heard that for some guys it's in the genes as well. Like my mums friends son is gay and he didn't want to be gay and even tried committing suicide because he didn't know how to tell his parents. He tried dating girls but didn't have the same strong feelings for girls that he did for guys!

No I don't think it's a disease. I think they may be born that way or it can be a choice for some.

Why would someone choose to be gay, and deal with the way society treats gay people. I myself don't think people choose to be gay or that it is a phase, and definitely not a mental disorder, I was taught in nursing school that most people that are gay are born with more male or female genes, thus making them attracted to the same sex. I don't really know.

I think it's their "test" to overcome in finding God. Some are born with tendencies to be addicts, of food, of alcohol, of drugs, etc. Others are constantly tempted by members of the opposite sex, lustful desires. All must overcome that fleshly desire to live a happy, fulfilled & holy life & to reach Heaven one day. God wants us to call on Him to do it. We all have a test. We all need God. He just wants us to realize it & call on Him. By the way, I know a man & a woman who used to be homosexual who are now saved & living for God. It's a choice to give in to the temptation and a choice and commitment to change.

Human have no control over their sexuality preferences. I don't think its hereditary either, though it would have something to do with their genes or something.
It's just a different hormonial obsession like the ones we all have on girls. Just that their's falls for guys instead, but other than that, its the same thing. They are capable of loving as much as we all could.
