Why Did Bush Senior Pardon Weinberger Who Never Even Went To Trial?

Anybody know the answer to this?

Seems to me that what Bush Senior feared was that during the trial of Weinberger his own and Reagan's involvment and knowledge of the Weapons for Iran Jihad-drugs-money-Contras would be exposed in under-oath testimony.

And Marc Rich was Pardoned by Clinton while being number 2 on the FBI most wanted list.........

Could that mean there was a connection with Clinton and Rich?

If he never went to trial he was never convicted of a crime.
