He/she must have a strong view of what they feel is in the best interest of this country and not bow to popular opinion. He/she must be of good character and be a decent person. He/she must be someone that can be respected and trusted. He/she must understand the founding of this country and the basic principles which this country represents.

I see very few candidates from either party which meet these criteria.

Honesty is one virtue that ranks high on the list. Without honesty, there is too much manipulation of the laws and far too much secrecy.
The ability to lead is an attribute that distinguishes the great from the mediocre or the failures. Without George Washington's leadership skills, we probably would have lost the Revolution. Without Lincoln's humility and leadership, the North probably would have lost to the Confederacy. And, without Franklin Roosevelt's and Winston Churchill's ability to lead and inspire confidence, the outcome of WWII would have been doubtful. Thankfully, we did not have then the leadership (or lack of it) that we have now.

God-like virtues, like Buddha, Jesus, Ghandi (other than the wife thing), Martin Luther King jr, etc. Meaning they should not be full of themselves, they should be there to represent all mankind. He/she should be a good speaker to all people. Someone who loathes killing and hates to see others suffer. I wish I could answer more, but Im too friggin tired....peace out.
