I do agree with you. But I guess there are lots of people who don't have common sense or compassion towards others. It's different if someone ask your opinion then yes, you should state how you feel. But just to say mean and nasty things just because you can, doesn't say much for the person saying them.

In real life this statement is usually true, however in cyber world people become more upfront and abrasive about the way the feel about a topic.. i think people can should have a strong opinion about something they are passionate or knowledgeable about however there is a way to express it without being so rude.

If depends on the intentions and consequences.

It's OK to point out a person mistake or weakness, but if its just merely your opinion on a subjective matter, like for example you thinks that a person looks ugly, you might as well keep it to yourself.

Constructive criticism is good.

Yes i think so this is a website that ppl come to look for answers, but i must say some ppl on here ask some silly and hurtful questions, so i think that's an exception to keeping their hurtful opinions quiet and not saying anything at all, but you are right! =)

I agree if their opinions are going to hurt someone's feelings, they should keep it to themselves.

But, if your opinion is not nice, and yet, you feel that other person must hear it, then tell them in a rational yet frank manner. Also, it's actually good to be opinionated if you keep an open mind about it.

yes duh the phrase if you aint got nothing nice to say don't say at all. saying something hurtful is just benefitting your self and it makes you look bad as well. except if it is a friend and the comment might be hurtful but beneficial as well i mean you don't want your friend walking around with some hairdo from the 80's and they think its cute, that would just be wrong.

well, if you ask a question, you're likely to get an opinion that might be hurtful to you but the answerer might not think it's hurtful. but if they are being intentionally mean, they should keep it to themselves...but sometimes it's so fun :-)
