They got the right guy in Carl Crawford, he is the best player on the team.

I am saying Carlost Pena for these reasons:
He is from my hometown im Massachusetts
He has been the best player on the Devil Rays This season...
Better the Carl Crawford

Personally, I prefer to pick the best player, not just who had the best 1st half stats. In that case, Crawford is the right choice. If we go by 1st half stats, it's probably Carlos Pena, followed closely by James Shields, with Crawford 3rd.

Carl Crawford

James Shields

Ty Wiggington

BJ Upton

Carlos Pena

Al Reyes

The Rays had plenty of possiblities for the mid-summer classic.

You could argue for Carlos Pena and his 19 HR, but Crawford has him beat in RBI (somehow?), runs, stolen bases, and batting average (although Brendan Harris actually has the highest average on the team). I think they made the right decision in going with Crawford.
